We encourage you to normalize talking about politics with your fellow local members when on a break, specifically the factual impact that policies or legislation will have on your local and its members. Political conversation as it relates to impact on our jobs and the union is protected concerted activity under the NLRA. The best advice on how to do this is to discuss the issues and not the personalities (easier said than done). Please let the Union office know if your manager forbids any political discussions in your breakrooms. There’s nothing your employer can do to restrict these conversations, especially in your breakroom when on a break.
